For those new to tango and newer repeating students — no prior dance experience is necessary! In this class, we will introduce new dancers to the essential basics: the tango embrace, traditional tango music, foundational figures, and the basics of navigating a social dance floor. This is also a great class for any dancer who wants to refresh their basics or learn a different role. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring thick socks to dance in!

Partners are not required, but it's great if you bring one! Students without a partner will be paired with another dancer, possibly of the same gender, and if so will learn how to both lead and to follow. Advance registration and payment is required to join this class.
Tango Foundations B
WEDNESDAYS: beginning Jan 7
7:30pm - 8:45pm
$60/person per month
instructors: Brandon & Nikki
For students who have graduated from Foundations A or are at a similar place in their development. In this class, we will introduce dancers to double-time rhythm and to a set of foundational figures we call The Sweet Five. Developed at Tango Northside, this set of enjoyable, challenging, simple figures will enable dancers to have a successful and satisfying tango experience while building their dance skills. We will pair these figures with the rhythmical orchestras of Argentine Tango.
No partner needed. Students without a partner will be paired
with another dancer.
To join this class: If you are not already a student at Tango
Northside, please contact Michael.
Tango Foundations C and Tango Post Grad
THURSDAYS: beginning Jan 8
7:30pm - 9:00pm
$60/person per month
instructors: Michael and Julie
This blended class is for students entering Foundations C and also dancers advancing beyond the foundation.

For Foundations C
(students who have completed Foundations B or are at a similar place in their development)
Welcome to the deep water of tango! In this class we introduce dancers to the basics of the crossed foot system and what we call the Elegant Eight: a collection of interlocking crossed-foot figures, developed at Tango Northside, that feature back ochos and molinete turns. Classes will also include material beyond the Elegant Eight.

For Tango Post Grad
(students who have graduated from Tango Northside Foundations series or have similar experience)
As we reach for a more musical, connected, and technically advanced dance, each class will feature exercises designed to strengthen and refine technique and lead/follow communication. Additional secondary figures and elements will expose Post Grad students to new and challenging ideas.
For both groups:
We will emphasize the slower, more melodic, and often the more difficult music of tango. We will study how the figures can be executed more musically, and include basic ways to lyrically link figures together.

No partner needed. Students without a partner will be paired
with another dancer

To join this class, please first confer with Michael.
