CLASSES
AT TANGO NORTHSIDE we offer classes for all dancers, from novice to advanced. We deeply value the art and culture of Argentine Tango, and strive to help our students develop the skills necessary to access the benefits of this rich and rewarding social dance. Lessons are progressive with an emphasis on strong fundamental principles. Descriptions and registration info for all classes are provided below. Tango Foundations A: Intro to Argentine Tango

For students new to tango — no prior dance experience is required! In this class, we will introduce new dancers to the tango embrace, traditional tango music, the foundational figures of tango, and the basics of navigating a social dance floor. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring thick socks to dance in!
Partners are not required, but it's great if you bring one! Students without a partner will be paired with another dancer, possibly of the same gender, and if so will learn how to both lead and to follow.
Registration and advance payment are both required 24 hours prior to the first class!! A minimum of eight students for each session is needed in order for us to hold classes. Follow the red registration button for full details.
Tango Foundations B
TUESDAYS
7:30pm - 8:45pm
$60/person per month (four or five classes)

For students who have graduated from Foundations A or are at a similar place in their development. In this class, we will introduce dancers to double-time rhythm and to a set of foundational figures we call The Sweet Five. Developed at Tango Northside, this set of enjoyable, challenging, simple figures will enable dancers to have a successful and satisfying tango experience while building their dance skills. We will pair these figures with the rhythmical orchestras of Argentine Tango.
No partner needed. Students without a partner will be paired with another dancer.

Tango Foundations C
THURSDAYS
7:30pm - 8:45pm
$60/person per month (four or five classes)
instructors: Michael & Julie, assisted by Tony
For students who have graduated from Foundations B or are at a similar place in their development as dancers. In this class, we will introduce dancers to the crossed foot system, the back ocho, and the half-turn to both sides. These elements make up a series of figures we call The Elegant Eight. These lovely figures compose the foundation of the crossed foot dance, which we will pair with the slower, more melodic orchestras of Argentine Tango.
No partner needed. Students without a partner will be paired with another dancer

Drop-In Topics Class: Beyond the Foundation
SUNDAYS
6pm - 7pm
$10 class only
$15 includes class + practica 7-9pm
instructors: Michael, Julie, and invited teachers
Drop-in Topics classes present material and ideas that will enrich your dance. It is built upon what dancers have learned in their foundation classes. Stay for the practica immediately following the class to keep learning!
Requirements and registration: These classes are built upon what is taught in our three Foundations classes. Open to all dancers familiar with the crossed foot system, back-ochos, and turns. If you are uncertain whether this class is right for you, just show up and observe, or talk to Michael. Please pay at the door via cash/check/Venmo.
